Sometimes we just don't think of the effect we say will have on the people that hear it. A simple comment like "I would never wear that shirt" about a
passer-byers shirt, when your girlfriend, who hears this comment, and owns the exact same shirt, could really upset her. When it may look fabulous on her, and you can't take it back. You've said it, the dammage is done.
An exercise for a communications workshop has you take a tube of toothpaste and a plate and rush to see who can get all the toothpaste out the fastest. Then once it's all out you're told you need to put it all back in with a toothpick. The thing is you can't. Once you say something stupid, you can't go back and change it, it's out there, and you can try to back track and compensate for what you said, but the fact of the matter is people will always remember what you said, or did. Lesson is- think about what you say and how it will be taken before you say it. Or chose your words wisely.
All these thoughts led up to this page I made of my sister and I. She had told me a couple weeks ago, that if we weren't sisters that she didn't think we would be friends. I thought about what she said a grea deal. Would we be friends if we weren't sisters? I had never considered that we would ever not be friends. But the thing is we haven't always been friends. We used to HATE each other, she used to write "die bitch" in my shower, or crack my head with an accordian. We've only recently decided we like each other, and that we do want to be friends.
We made that choice. I chose to be friends with her, and I since then I would never have thought about us not being friends, or that she doesn't think we have things in common, or enjoy each other's company.
Well I love her, and I want her to know that I choose to be friends with her, we're friends just because we're sisters. We're friends for because we choose to be friends.

And I
shouldn't have done this already cause this is a 2008 night out, and I don't have a book for this year yet, so it's sitting lonely on my desk until I get a new book, but I wanted to play around with some accents and pink. I was in a pink mood. So here's my first completed page for 2008 and it's April. I have some catching up to do!
